I posted a discussion on what u would do if u saw a child left alone in a car while the parents was shopping, one person left a comment then said when there child was young that is was cold out and she left her at home alone to go by water and diapers for the baby , would u do this and is it just as wrong as leaving the young child home alone? I think it is just as bad because anything can happen to a yound child with no one there to watch them..

did you know that it is a law, that children cannot stay at home by themselves until they are 12 years of age? any younger and the state can take your children away from you.

We just started to leave my son who is 7 home. Not for long, only 10 - 15 minutes when my fiance brings me to work or I go pick him up from work. We would not leave him home for any longer. If you need to run an errand when it is cold out and you child is young, you should wait until someone can stay with your child. Really young children get into trouble out of curiosity too often to be left at home.

I agree with you. I wouldnt leave the baby alone in the house. I grew up in Japan until I was 12 years old. At age 4, I stay home while my mom went to grocery shopping. She was able to do it because our neighbors kept eyes on me. It is still pretty safe to leave children when they are old enough at home in Japan.
