Any Freelance Flash Designers out There?

I have been doing flash design for quite some time but have always worked on a per project basis. Recently a company asked me for hourly rates. I know when I first started out, rates for Flash Design Rates were $40+ but as I search the web I am finding that the rates are far more competitive even for experienced designers such as myself. Even going as low as $10 per hour. I am simply looking for advice on what is an acceptable hourly rate to ask?

$10, that is really low. I think rates are set depending on where you live. For example, there are very few Flash designers where I live so my fiance who has been working in the field for over 5 years and programs in ActionScript has bid $120/hour and easily won bids. However, when he bid projects for a company in Tennessee the highest he could bid was $75/hour.

Thanks so much. Your info was very helpful. I almost fell off my chair when I was $120. This is very promising considering the company I working for is in San Fran. Guess I should brush up on my actionscript and get myself out there. I am not sure if we are able to promote here or not but does your husband have a website I can look at, just so I can compare my talents to his and see if I am at the same calibre.

He does have a site up but currently he doesn't have any of his flash work up. The majority of the work he does is for private companies and cannot put it up for his own personal portfolio.

Please tell me what flash design is. Something to do with art and computers? I would really like to know. Thanks.
