Do you watch as many movies now as you did before computers & Internet?

I love a good movie. Now I am so addicted to my computer that I find I don't have time to watch movies as much as I would like. In fact, I don't even watch as much TV. I would much rather make my own entertainment by directing my computer where I want it to go and telling it to do what I want it to do. Often the television is on in the same room while I am on the computer, but sometimes I don't even listen. How do you feel about this?

Personally I pop in a movie and compute. if no movie then I bebop to music and compute...have a few too many songs on my computer...will put them on a memory stick someday. I can multi task and mostly have movies that I have seen before so visually not needed while at computer. I wonder at this too so will check in and see who else reponds.

Thanks for your response. I always have multiple windows going on my computer but as of yet, I don't watch movies on the computer. The TV is right behind me though, so I am often listening to it.

discussion about less tv/movie watching, - patch adams was the movie playing when I responded to the response to my response about tv/movie watching.
I do pop in a movie into the vcr/dvd player, that is what I meant...and since others have reponded. I find that the computer does inform me of more movies that I might otherwise find. Also Netflix and EBAY fill our need for movies as well as the local library. Patch Adams is playing now!!

I adored that movie. Robin Williams is a genius actor.

Good question. I actually rent movies more now than I used to. I actually watch more movies at home than I do in the theaters & I think that's because of the internet. Well because of Netflix to be more specific!

I was using NetFlix for a while and it was ok, but I guess it just wasn't right for us. I like the concept but my kids want to be able to watch just what they want when they want so it's either own or rent on the spot.

I rarely even turn my TV on anymore. I have always been a fan of more interactive forms of electronic entertainment though.

I know what you mean. The only reason my TV is on is usually because someone else put it on. If no one else is here, I usually put the satellite TV just on the music channels...preferably a 70s radio station. I listen and enjoy and don't have to watch.

I agree with JashleyB; i'm watching much more movies now than before internet, since with internet it's more easy to find new movies: there are some useful internet services like Yahoo Movies or Movielens that give me movies recommendations based on my movie ratings. I rarely turn on my TV.

Thanks for your response. Again, it's not the way I thought of things at all, but I guess that's because I still keep TV and internet completely separate.

I remember the nights that my husband and I would either watch a movie or a TV show or two. He still does that, but I'm usually at my computer either playing games in pogo or posting in myLot. I also have a TV on my desk next to the computer. It's on when I'm in here, but half the time I don't even hear what's on. It's a shame because I've got about 75-80 movies that I haven't even watched yet.

I can never really enjoy watching TV or movies with hubby. We don't like the same kinds of programs and if we do sit down together, he falls asleep anyway.

I watch even more movies than before. This because I can play them with my dvd at the PC without "fighting" for the home TV set :P

I get it. If I had the capability I would too. This family is always fighting over the TV. And that's even with 3 in the house.

I still watch the shows I always watched. If there is a movie on cable that I want to watch then I watch it. The internet has not affected the time I spend doing the things I love ie. watching movies, listening to music, reading.
