It could the o2 sensor.
This sensor is heat sensitive. The sensor works fine at a certain temperature it the right temperature is not achieved it will trigger a check engine light.
Not sure how many O2 sensor your car has but take it to autozone
and they will pull the code for free.
Then research the code on the internet and ask a reliable mechanic what it will cost to fix it.

my aunt check engine is on to and nothing is wrong. my uncle is one of the best mechanics and he said it was a sensor problem. it might be a sensor problem and just staying on.one time when mine was on it a small valve. did they put it on the machine to see what was wrong?might want to do that. i see this is an old discussion so what happened with that?

I had a diagnostic test and they couldn't find anything wrong. And since I past the inspection test I left it at that.
