I homeschool my 3 children. My oldest is 12 and I've been thinking about enrolling her in our community college at 14 so she can work on dual credit. Has anyone done this? If so how has it worked out?

I went to public school and i started taking dual enrollment classes and now that i am in college i am so glad that I did this. It was not much more difficult than my high school classes and i would even say a little easier plus you have thoes credits when you start college and if you start early you can even graduate high school and get an associates degree at the same time. I dont know how it works for homeschool but through my public school all my dual enrollment classes were completly free even the books. I highly suggest this.

My nieces have been doing it since Freshman year each. They love it and received an understanding of what it was like to be in college. I also took a couple of college courses while in highschool and I enjoyed it as well. Thanks for the topic!

I have not done it as my children are not old enough. I do homeschool my children and I know many others that do as well. I also know many that attend community college at a very young age and earn college credits. In some areas (not my state that I know of), community college may even be paid for by the public schools if your child is "dual enrolled."
