As you grow older you find yourself turning into your mother! It could be in your cooking style, the way you yell (not me-lol),the things you just believe in. I sometimes laugh to myself when i realize that some of the things i say or do sound like my mom. Well i guess she raised me ok.

The older I get the more I sound like my mother. I feels weird to me. It's not so much that my mother is a bad person, she has many good qualities, I just want to be ME not her. I wonder if my own daughters will start using the same phrases and inflections I use? It's all very strange, but sort of in a good way.

I think I am sounding more like my mother everyday. It is amazing and it seems the more I try NOT to sound like her, the more I actually do. She's not a bad person or anything, she has many good qualities, but I want to be me not her. It's very strange. I wonder if my daughters will starts sounding like me and using some of the phrases and inflections I use?

My mother has major Health issues. She tends to let them control her, and not do anything really with her life anymore. She is in a Nursing Home due to her Health issues now and never goes anywhere. She has been out of the place she is in, only about 2 or 3 times this whole yr. I have a lot of Health issues myself, and a lot of them are some of the same ones effecting my Mom, and I think HELP!! I do not want to be nowhere in my life 20 yrs. from now. I want to be able to look back and be Proud, and still be able to get around etc. as well.

Although my mom and myself are completely different in our outlook etc, we can laugh at the same things. Yes I do see some of myself in her and my brother tells me all the time you are just like mom! Although my mom tells me, you are your fathers daughter.

I totally do, but I pretty much knew it was coming. I try to pretend I am not as obsessive as she is, but I know I am.

Well, I really didn't say I'm not going to be like my mom but I don't believe in the saying like mother, like daughter. And I agree with you, as I mature I am kinda like my mom. Relatives would often say I look like my mom. And not only that I act like my mom. It is she who mold me to be the person I am proud to be anyway. :)

I do in some ways - I would say one of the biggest tells will be when I have kids...see if I interact with them the same way Mum did with me.
I never said I'm not going to be like my Mother though - I think she did a fantastic job of raising 4 kids and although she was firm at times she always explained the reason behind her decision and tried to make us understand it. And as I get older I realise her decisions were pretty much always spot on! =)

Oh yeah. I said the same thing. That I wasn't going to be like my mother or my father. However now as I get older I see more of them in me. There are times with my niece (who I help raise) when I hear the words come out of my mouth and then I think. Oh gods I've turned into my parents. I try really hard not to let that continue. My parents weren't the best in the world. They weren't the worst either but they had a lot of traits I don't want to copy.
