"Under God" in the Pledge of Alligence?

Should the words "under God" be in the U.S. Pledge of Allegiance? I personally think there is nothing wrong with it, even if one tries to argue that it is offensive, think about it. Everyone worships A God of what their choice is. The Pledge of Alligence is not pointing out one certain God, so how is that offensive? Please give me your feedback! Thanks

I don't think it's a huge issue either way, but if I were to answer yes or no, I don't think those words should be there. A couple of reasons: 1) "under God" didn't even exist in the original Pledge, those words were added there during the Cold War as some kind of slight against the "Godless communists." So, considering that these words were not originally intended to be there, AND the intention of adding them was political and therefore not pure, I don't think they should stay. 2) Not everyone worships "A God"; there are atheists in this country and their views should be respected just like everyone else's. This country was founded for freedom of religion, and "no religion" should not be excluded! Therefore, if atheists find it offensive, then we should not offend them.

I read your response, and appreciate and respect your response. However, I must say I do not agree with you. And besides that...it's like my friend SKSOUTH said...if they don't like it..they can give the money that says "in god we trust" to all of us who don't care! hehe Thanks for responding.

I think it should be in the Pledge of Allegiance. I agree with you. If God keeps being removed, it will be the downwards of the USA

Very true. And as I specified before...it doesn't specify a definate type of God..so how can one be offended..no matter what the religion is? I think some people just get bored and want to get angry about something.
