What do you think about people who move to certain areas because they have better welfare benefits and then stay having more and more babies for the state to feed, clothe, and support? The rest of us work our tushies off to pay for ourselves and our families, why can't they?

well you have to think about the girls who have babies young. And then they have those kinds of parents that dont want to help them at all. And not because they had the baby but becasue before they had the child thats how it was for them. And they now see that they can get a little help and they cant get jobs because their to young and im not saying this for young ladies and wemon who are over 17 because they canwork. Get jobs so it should be no excuse and just to correct you you cant keep having babies to get welfare be cause you only get it for 36 months and then thats it your cut off. So reserch before you start to critisize but for me im not on welfare be cause i can do it on my own.

I guess I should have been more specific. My niece announced that she was pregnant recently and that she would be moving to a neighboring state because it is easier to get welfare benefits there. She also has cousins there. The father of the baby also is going to move there because he knows someone who will pay him more for the same work he is doing now.

I think that is a total myth. Under the current system, people on welfare are lucky if they can eat and have a roof over their heads. They certainly can't afford to travel for better benefits, better jobs or better anything else. I was once a caseworker and the stereotyping of welfare people offends me because I know that most of it is bunk. Your average middle class person does more cheating on their income tax than an entire caseload of welfare recipeints do in a year. Your average working poor person gets more back with the EIC tax credit than the average block of welfare recipients. get through cheating.

I am not particularly fond of them. We have a lady that lives two doors down from us.She is only about 19 or 20.She's on welfare, has a kid about 2 years old, doesn't know who the father is,has another one on the way ,doesn't know who the father is.She does nothing all day buy badmouth people and have all kinds of guys coming in and out of her home, parties all the time and who's paying for those parties? Us working folk.I work for a nursing agency and I am constantly lifting patients up and down. What makes it harder ,is I have a bad back, arthritis in my knees and my hip is starting up,and I have to keep working through that while these welfare people just get money handed to them

One of my friends is living on welfare. I can see that he doesn't abuse the system. He has clothes that aren't exactly brand name but he doesn't care. (His mother is a bit different...) When I see people like that I am reminded why America has a reputation for being a wonderful country. On the other hand you have people who abuse the system just to get extra on their incomes. These are people who aren't neccessarily poor. These people are middle class and can live off their income and then some.
