You can't prevent it from happening when they are older but you can help them get it under control. Get them into a doctor for it and see what the doctor perscribes for it. In the mean time you can keep a log to see what triggers attacks. If possible then they can avoid such things in the future. For example bird feathers cause me to have severe attacks, so I do not have feather pillows in the house and I try to avoid closed in areas with birds (like pet stores). Do a search on the web. Find out as much as you can about asthma. What triggers it, what myths so you can avoid bad/wrong advice, what medicines are out there, learn all this. The more you know the more you can help them. Now their asthma might get better with age, it might not. That is never known ahead of time. Just take it day by day ane realize that this will be apart of them all their lives. Even if they end up being symptom free for years it could come back easily enough.

I don't think you can prevent it. I have three brothers and three sisters and we were all reared in the same house, went to the same school and played with the same friends. I got asthma and none of my brothers or sisters got it. I just seems to happen.

well you really have to check it with a pediatrician..I guess the good thing you could do is to keep them from dusty places. away from allergens...keep them healthy.. the problem with asthma is that there is a so much release of histamine in the mast cell and we have to regulate that through eating the right foods.. stay away from junk foods...maybe that could help your neices
