EDUCATION - I Have a Theory/Idea/Dream

Believe it or not I had visions when I was working as a political analyst that one day I would seek election for State congress. I would run on a platform of education.
My idea would be to make education obligatory through the 12th grade with no exception to age--completion of highschool would be mandatory.
However, one must be realistic. There are many students who do not have full capacity to grasp all the science, math, and languages, etc., and they lose patience and leave school. It's simply beyond their capacity. For these I would set up vocational schools (paid for by the State) where everyone, including girls, could earn a trade whether it be carpenter, auto mechanic, hotel employees, nurses aides, beauticians, etc., that take some skill to become good at the job. In addition to the vocational training, at least english, math, geography, American History, and World History would be taught on a less intense level.
It is my belief that such a program would keep young people off the street and give them a better chance to earn a living after leaving school and/or keep them off the unemployed lists.
Any comments for or against?

That's great. You must be in Congress..
By the way, I thought you in Portugal. Why must learn American History? Why not Portuguese History?
I think you must add bible study too in your curriculum and how to integrate the Bible and all the sciences. I'm a Christian. that's why I think about it...Unless education will never change this world...

No I am not in Congress. I am in Portugal but I am American Citizen.....that's why American History. And unfortunately prayer in our schools is not forbidden by our constitution. And I imagine such a Bible class in school would be forbidden. Thank you for stopping by and for your input.
