my brother around 32 years old has been smoking since he was in grade 12th grade. He is a chain cigerate smoker and smokes alot, may be 2 packs per day or something, but now he says he wnats to quit and can't, because its not very easy to leave cigerate after being long habbitual. He tried to and went successfull for few days and he left smoking cigerate but than afterwards he again started in 2 or may be 3 days, he did this several times. is there any proper way to quit smoking for my brother or any other person who wants to get rid of cigerate smoking habbit.

To leave smoking, the most important thing is strong determination. your brother should be stable and calm on what he has decided to do. In the mean time ask him to do some sports, any game he likes to play, cricket, football, "TENNIS";) or simple morning exercise. I also seen some of my friends left smoking while concerning with some good Homoeopathic Dr. I think it helps in this regards.. best of luck for your brother :)

i also think if he involves in something like sports or any of his hobbies he'll forget cigerates for while and this way he'll smoke less and after sometime he may quit. but its still hard for him

Hi Even i had tought that it is impossible for me to quit, but it happened in a jiffy, today i am out of it even tough there is a pull towards the Cigratte but need to have u r own will power... I am testing myself by going to the places where i used to smoke and be there and do whatever i used to do but except for smoking.. Just see what are u r brother's weakness, means like sentiments etc., cause even the psychological treatments are a waste but only thru strong bond of relationship can this be possible. Any how it might take time but it depends on your brothers will power to quit just try to speak to him and first build his willing ness to quit; do not give the defects of smoking but just tell him that he would be able to live with everyone more happily etc...

Well first I would tell him to visit his doctor...and he could certainly help him to quit. I smoked for many years too...and I just quit cold turkey..the first week is the worst..if he can get through that..then he may have a fighting chance....Tell him not to give up..there are many options now...

For quitting determination is must.I am also a chain smoker and finish three to four boxes in a day.One day when I was in front of mirror I saw dark circles behind my eyes and started some low pain in my chest. Then I make a strong decision to quit smoking. From that day I kept chewing gum and elachi in my pocket and whenever I feel to have a smoke I take a chewing gum.But my determination also helps me in this.So if your brother also quit to smoking his determination is must.

It depends on the person. People thought that they can't really quit smoking. It's actually your mind saying you can't stop it, but it should be you who needs to function.

my brother too was a smoker and was able to overcome the habit. i think its not impossible but it will surely take some time. its all dependent on your decision and not feelings.

Hi, Its been 5 Yrs that i have been going through the same... but when i realiesd that i cant really quit it at one go. i changed my brand from harder one's to lighter ones... post that i worked on reducing the number for every day... and today i m at 1-2 a day from 20-25 a day... mhy next would be to create gaps in days i somke. Its hard but he needs to have will power and understand how to reduce it. He can create a delay by 10-15 min every time he feels like smoking, coz after that he wont feel like having it for some time again. One thing more ask him to look at the burning part of the cigerate closely where he somke and c what it is he is inhalling..

It's hard to quit smoking, but it can be done. It's all up to him. He has to really want to and he has to be strong on top of that. Sometimes people can't quit cold turkey and others can. Maybe he can start by winging him self off. Maybe he can just smoke 3 cigs a day. Space the 3 out throughout the day. It beats smoking 2 or 3 packs. That is all I can offer. I was once a smoker myself. It's all in the head. Will power is what he needs. Wish him the best of luck!

I simply don't believe in the word "IMPOSSIBLE" as the word itself say's...I AM POSSIBLE....isn't it? so, with more determination anything can be achieved in this world and the key to success is strong will power and determination and most of all desire to quit smoking. When everybody knows smoking is injurious to health, why to put ourself in trouble by smoking...isn't it?...Life is beautiful, it is there to enjoy...so, enjoy life...GOOD LUCK

My husband has quit smoking and it is 1 year and 1 week today. He used the Nicorette losenges and the gum. He was smoking 3 packs a day also, and I know it was really hard for him to quit, but he was determined. He would also buy lifesavers and other small hard candy for in between. The other way he quit before and that was about 10 years ago he used the Patch and that time he didn't smoke for about 6 years, and had begun smoking again when he went through a stressful time in his life. I wish your brother luck and tell him he can do it!
