My girlfriend and I have been going out for a long time , things have gotten more serious we are talking about getting married soon, she is basically telling me I will be the provider of anything that involves money , eg. buying a house, paying the bills. she has a some debt and spends every penny she gets , which in my eyes makes it hard for me . what should I do to make her understand that her spending habits need to stop and to start thinking of our future?

Just tell her you want her to stick to a budget etc. Financial problems are one of the biggest causes of divorce. Better to figure this all out before the wedding!

I dont think you should proceed unless you have mutual agreement on everything

You need to sit and talk to her. If you want to get married to her means you will have to share the sweet and hard times together. Both of you have to be mentally matured enough to handle the difficulties life offers you. She needs to understand what you are going through and you need to understand her problems (which you seem to be doing. good job, keep it going). Only this way you as a couple will be able to share the good and worst things in life and still support and hold on to each other. So speak to her and let her know what are things that concern you and how both of you together are going to work upon solutions for it.
