Did the SF Giants do the right thing signing Bonds up again????

I want to know what you think. Here are my thoughts in a nutshell: I do think that it was the right move by the Giants to bring Barry Bonds back to the GIants for next season even if it is at the steep price of 16 million dollars with potential with incentives for 20 MM. Though there are many reasons not to bring him back....steroids....attitude...etc., I want to see him break the homerun record in a Giants uniform. San Francisco will benefit by the attendance at AT&T park as well. And last....one lucky ticket holder will hopefully receive a nice chunk of change for that homerun ball. Maybe it will be me :)

Yep, I know he is rude....unfortunate. And, he may not be worth the money but the Giants have invested too much with Bonds to let him go now.

Sorry for such a delayed reply. I did meet him in person. I worked the front desk at the Clarion SFO when he came by which he did about once every few months. The room was never in his name but he was there to talk with his agent ant sign baseballs that were to be sold. The only interaction was dealing with his demands at the front desk and you're probably right and I shouldn't generalize his personality but my impression was that he was rude.

hah, good luck catching his last home run ball or the one that breaks the record! it could be a good move potentially, although he would be a bigger asset to an AL club. Being a Giant fan its hard to see him get paid 16 mil when he will maybe play in half the games, and we lost schmidt. i hope they spend some more money soon and maybe trade

It would have been ok with me if he had signed with the A's as the DH. And that's another sore subject for me....Schmidtty....bye bye.

I agree with you. It was the right move for the Giants to bring Barry back. Only from a business perspective. I still think he disgraces the sport of baseball and all of the people who play it, watch it, and live it. I hope he doesnt break the record, and does not get inducted into the hall of fame. But i know the HOF is a sure thing. He could have still been a great player without resorting to the use of steriods. I hope you respect my opinion because i respect yours. I just dont respect Barry. Good luck with the ball and i hope you enjoy the 06 season.

I agree with everything you said except for the homerun statement. And yes, I absolutely respect your statement and appreciate the sincerity in your post. But I really want to see Bonds make history in beating the homerun record even if it means there will be an asterisk by his name in the record books....but that's another can of worms.
