first you really need to get them out of the house. you can check to see where they have set up shop by putting small containers of water dribbled with soap under a night light. the fleas will be attracted to the light and water, but the soap will prevent them from getting back out. next you gotta treat your yard. then the dog goes to the vet. if you are getting bitten by the fleas, try putting vix vapor rub on your pressure points. hope it helps.

We have 2 cats and even though we dont have the problem with fleas they do. I have tryed everything including my son running after them with the flea powder:-)). What i use now is an application called spot on. There is one for both cats and dogs. Its in a tube and is a liquid that you put on the animals skin. I have found it works well.

Is your dog in the yard ? Then you have to have the yard sprayed as well otherwise nothing will work on a long run. In the emantime bath your dog every week with fleas shampoo and continue to use front line - it will ease it at least Good luck

My dog is jsut INFESTED with fleas. We've been giving her hartz treatments, flea baths every week, etc, and NOTHING is helping. Her entire underside has no fur from scratching and I can just pick the fleas off of her. Does anyone know of any places to get CHEAP (as in under 30 dollars) Advantix, frontline, etc? OR does anyone know any cheap homeade flea killers/repellants?

Well something I forgot to tell you, after you give your dog the bath, plz make sure you put the dawn soap down your tub drain...Cause if any are stuck in the drain and did not get any soap or suds on them, they can crawl out of the drain and then you are going to have your problem all over again...Sorry I forgot to tell you this..I hope everything works ok for you...Last thing, don't forget to comb your dog often... :)

I know this will sound really off the wall but sprinkle salt on your floors and let sit for 30 to 60 minutes then vacume your floors. Salt will kill fleas. Might be worth a try.

Funny...I am having the same problem right now. I've been battling fleas for almost a year now. I'm gonna try the salt thing. I have cats, not dogs. Cats that don't go outside....and one of them just had kittens night before last...go figure that one out. Didn't even know she was pregnant. Never showed and never been outside. I have 2 females cats...must have been immaculate conception!!!

Hey! That`s a great discussion! My name is Ashley Leigh. I am fairly new to MyLot and have met a lot of nice people already! I was wondering if I could add you to *My Buddies*. That way, when you post new discussions I can reply to them and share my opinions. I hope that`s okay. Please let me know. I can also help you make more money on MyLot. Also, if you have MySpace, I`m on there everyday. Mine is www.myspace.com/skittlez353. MyLot is a really great way to make some extra money. You just have to be devoted. That`s how I see it. I`m a stay-at-home job so I just think of this as my way of making extra diaper money and it helps. I hope I can reply to more of your discussions though, please let me know if I can add you. xO` [ASHLEY] PS - WE HAD THAT PROB BEFORE BECAUSE OUR CAT BROUGHT EM IN. THE ONLY THING THAT FINALLY GOT RID OF EM WAS TWO TRIPS FROM TERMINIX! THEY MULTIPLY SO FAST ITS INCREDIBLE. YOU HAVETA PAY FOR TERMINIX TO COME EVEN THOUGH IT COSTS A LITTLE BIT. EVEN MOVING WONT HELP, CUZ THEY`LL BE ON ALL YOUR FURNITURE. AND YOU HAVETA WASH YOUR SHEETS LIKE EVERY 2-3 DAYS.

You have an interesting way of dealing with fleas. I wonder if there is a leaf in western Canada that would do the same job. I'll have to do some research into that.

Hi, It's been awhile and I was wondering if you had tried the sprinkling of salt to combat fleas. Does it work? How is your flea farm going?

the only thing thing that I found works is to vacuum like crazy, they love dust so remove the dust. Also if you put a bowl of warm water on the carpet or floor, they will jump into it

We had that problem late this summer. My lil dog was fine until a nasty dog started running loose in the neighborhood. We tried it all, as well. We bath him non stop and even did a little research for homeopathy solutions when all else failed. We were told direct sunlight kills them, not sure how true this is but salt is supposed to kill them as well as them not liking tea tree oil. So basically I mixed table salt with some vacuuming powder and coated down my house. Let it sit for a few hrs and then vacuumed. Not sure what actually did it but we no longer have fleas inside. Occasionally he will bring one in from outside but the problem is gone. I wish you the best, I know what a pain they are. Also, vacuuming daily for 3 weeks should help. Then throw the bags OUT!! Far out! The vibrations from the vacuum cause eggs to hatch and each time you do this you are just depleting the little buggers ;-)

Jeeze, sounds like you have some kind of mutant strain of zombie fleas that won't die. Maybe you need a yard spray to kill them at the source.

You have to treat the dog and flea bomb the house twice. Once initially then again in a week to catch the ones that hatched. I got infested once after catsitting for a friend and that cured the problem. It was awful, my poor cats were covered and they never go out.

WE had to get some for our dog. We spent lots on things in the store. Finally went to the vet as it was really getting to her ears. They have a flea killer that is expensive but couple of drops on her coat and rub around and took care of it right away...

If you have them in your house...get a carpet cleaner and put flea stuff in the cleaner and clean your carpets with it. And give your pets a bath with flea shampoo. keep your pets inside or keep them outside. If you bring them back in after thay are outside you will keep the fleas.

I've tried this and it works. Vaccuum your carpets, then sprinkle them with salt. Don't vaccuum again for 7 days if possible. I had to vaccuum after 3 days and the fleas were gone. Re-apply salt after vaccuuming. We were amazed that it cost so little after paying so much for other remedies. This remedy is healthier too. No toxic fumes to breath in.

The solution is only a Big Net, covering your house. Make entries closed to the fleas.

Flea control is easy. Step one is to remove all bodily hair from every creature in the house (including yourself). This makes the fleas easy to find. Then you get a can of fly spray and a lighter and when you see a flea you incinerate it. You also need to remove and burn the places fleas live. This may require that you incinerate your house. Do not stress. You will be rid of the fleas. Cheers.
