A lot of people protested when Sharona (actress Bitty Schram) left the show. But, it think Natalie is actually better.

I think Natalie is going to be a potential love interest for Monk toward the end of the series.

I certainly think she's the most suitable candidate for that role so far in the series. And with Monk's various psychological problems, I can see that as a "will-they-or-won't-they" storyline which could last for decades!!!

I admit that i loved the actress Bitty Schram. However, I had the opportunity to interview the actress who plays Natalie. She is a real lady and a genuine sweetheart! Monk and his OCD has made a grand adjustment with the new character!

I like Natalie better just because she is more down to earth than Sharona was. I thought Sharona was actually kind of annoying, she always thought she was "all that". I just think Natalie is a better fit for the show.

I like Natialie better. She pushes Monk in ways that Sharona wouldn't. I think Sharona was more of a pushover then Natalie is.

I wasn't convinced it was a good thing when the character of Sharona left the series, as her interaction with Monk was so entertaining, and the dynamic seemed to be an integral part of the series. However, I now think that Natalie's character works even better within the show. Having had the change of assistants, it's also allowed for some character development of Monk, and we see a different dynamic with the other characters too. I'm now a definite convert to Natalie's character, but I think her character wouldn't have worked so well had she been the assistant from the start. And whilst Sharona may have grumbled and griped, and been generally bolshie, I think that Natalie's a stronger character, and forces Monk to deal with more reality than he previously had to - being somewhat indulged by Sharona.

I was a bit surprised at first that Sharona was "removed" from the show. I did my research and found out that the producers and Bitty didn't agree on a new contract so Sharona left the show. I loved Sharona as Monk's assistant and I like the way Benjie (Sharona's kid) tormented Monk (Stump the Monk). The Dynamics between Monk and Sharona is fun and appealing to the fans. the only complaint I have with Sharona is that sometimes she puts on too much make up and that the writers didn't dwell on Sgt Discher's sorta crush on Sharona. Natalie's character surprised me. She fights back and puts Mr Monk in check and surprisingly, Mr Monk complies. This added a new dimension on Mr Monk's character. and gave a new breathe of life into the show. Natalie's appearance is pleaseing to the eyes (less make up) and how she tries to solve cases and pushes Mr Monk to his and her own limit. All said, I believe for the show's sake, Natalie is a good fit as Mr Monk's new assistant. The transition from Sharona to Natalie was well done and the show didn't miss Sharona that much (but a little flash back or a guest episode would be nice). Sharona's character was a perfect fir for us to get to know Mr Monk so to her credit, Bitty did a good job. I'm still hoping to see Sharona as guest in a future episode (imagine Mr Monk's confusion- excellent) and not just in reruns.

At first I didn't like Natalie at all! She's totally different from Sharona and I just couldn't get used to her because I loved Sharona, but now since she's on the show all the time and I watch like every single episode I'm just used to her now. But to answer your question of who's a 'better Monk assistant', I really couldn't choose who's "better", they were both there for him when he needed them to hand him a "wipe", they both are there because they want to be and not just for the money and they both sincerely care about him so I think both of them are great as "Monk Assistants"!

I liked Sharona, she brought a little more drama to the show... Natalie is sorta laid back. Far too normal to excite me.
