Is is tolerable for little children when they tell a lie? Do you punish them.

I hate when my children tells a lie. I think if they'll be tolerated, they will grow up telling a lie is a normal thing to do. Do you punish them when they tell a lie?

Don't tolerate I make my children tell me why they lied and then give them a time out

No, i don't think it must be tolerated at all. Because when you tolerate them to tell lies then and then, eventually when they grow up, they will get used to it... they will think it's okay to tell lies because they've done it since they were kids.
So i think as early as being children, they must learn that telling lies is wrong and explain to them why is that so in a nice way so that they will grow up honest men and women (the way it should be) =)
