Will humans continue to evolve?

Let's just everyone assume that humans have evolved from apes. So if the world is still around for millions of years to come, do you think that we will continue to evolve, and if so, how much?

Its an interesing question, because the world has become a global community, with people travelling al round the world, and mass population movement there is currently a great mix up in the gene pool underway, which would help evolution. However the pronciples of 'survival of the fitest' no longer seems to apply to us. i.e. the most sucessful humans often have less children....hmmmm

No, we're going straight down the tubes. In just a few hundred years we've gone from Dante, Shakespeare, and the Enlightenment to 'CU l8r'and 'OMG, did U C Britney?!' A couple generations from now we'll be grunting, dragging our arms on the ground, and naming our children Pebbles and Bam-Bam. Stick a fork in the human race, it's done.

Evolution takes one heck of a lot of time...yet even today we can see differences in ourselves when we compare with our ancestors. The average height of a man in 1900 was about 5 foot 6 inches. Today the average is aprox 5-6 inches above that. This isn't the best example, but it is the most obvious. Better nutrition encourages genetic change. Since we consume so many chemicals, we can expect those too to have an effect at some point. I doubt there will be many exterior changes in the human race, although internal ones are expected. We may finally loose what is left of the digestive area known as the apendix, tonsils may become a thing of the past, just to name two possibles. I think there will always be wordsmiths, people who write for the joy of writing and others who will read them for the joy of words. If we are lucky we will develop stronger teeth that do not decay or break, bones that do not succumb to disease and thinning, and eyes that do not dim with age. But then who the heck said humans were ever lucky?

People won't evolve anymore because they didn't evolve by now !! I suggest you enter on this link for reading more : http://www.angelfire.com/zine/dancer911/articles5/evolution.html

It is all part of nature to evolve, we evolve to climate, region etc. all the time, its just happens so slowly we don't realize it. Look at how different we are now from just 50 years ago. look at how far we have developed our minds with all of the modern technology, just think what it will be like in another 50 years!
