Medical TV shows taking the world by storm!?!?

Why is it that every time I turn the TV on I see the life monitor of a patient. OK, so maybe that's an exageration, but medical TV shows are the new reality shows. Grey's Anatomy seems to be the most popular, but you can't forget about the ever so popular House and Nip Tuck. And those are only three of the many more out there. What's with this new sparked interest in the medical drama of the world? I mean, I guess we don't turn the show on to watch the diagnosis of the next patient, we really turn it on to see the drama between the characters. But why in the setting of the hospital? It really isn't a romantic setting. Where are all the shows about Vets, granted they did make an appearance on Grey's, but that was soon over. What about shows about proffesors, or school teachers, or fire fighters? yes, there are one or two of these shows out there, but almost nothing compared to the medical dramas. What's so fascinating about a Hospital? Please share. :)

Greys Anatomy is my favorite show. Good story lines and the entire cast just works well together. I don't watch ER or Nip and Tuck. I guess a vets life just isn't exciting enough for tv?!

I'm not really sure either. Maybe its so interesting because they do have real real medical emergencies in between all the drama's with the characters love lives. I remember the episode where the man had an explosive in his belly and it kept me on the edge of my seat.
