Have you read Harry Potter more than once?

Because of the awesomeness of this series, I have read all six books about 7 times each. Is anyone else as obsessed as I am? Why is it that I can read them over and over again? Usually I have to wait years in between reading a book for the second time, but this year alone I think I have read the entire series two or three times.

Not yet, because I love reading in general and there are so many other books I'd like to pick up and read (and have since I've read the Harry Potter series). But I do plan on it someday, because I love Harry Potter and the knowledge that we are waiting for the very last book to come out is killing me.

Do you think you'll read the series again right before reading the last book? I know I definitely will.. I love reading them in order!

100% agree with you! So many layers to get through - one reading just does not suffice!

7 times each? That's a lot! I don't think I've ever read any book for that many times...except for text book. haha~~ I haven't read any of them yet. :p I seldom read novels, it's just because it will take me much time to read a book, and I just can't stop reading once I started. So, I prefer to read some motivational books nowadays, those with chapters, and not continuous one.

Well, the Harry Potter books do have chapters, though you'd be hard pressed to stop yourself after just one. I know how you feel about not being able to put a book down once you've started, but these are definitely worth the read if you can find the time.

You aren't alone. If I've got time, I try to read a Harry Potter book. I just love it! I think it's like that because they're pretty easy to read and they're fun to read.

I also feel like they never get old because there is always something new to discover!

The imagination and detail in the novels gets me every time. Always discovering something new, some new way different elements of the story are linked together. Astounding is a perfect way to describe it!

I didn't even read it once how could I have read it twice or three times. As reading isn't really for me and I've tried to watch the first (I think it was the first) movie and I couldn't finish watching it so I think I will never be reading any Harry Potter book.

That's a shame.. you really should give the books (or at least the movies) a try. If reading isn't for you, maybe you just haven't found something that interests you yet... I know someone who never used to read and then he started reading books about poker, and he loves to read those!

No i haven't read it for more than once, I just started reading them and I find it rewarding compared to watching the film. I really prefer reading the book first, then watching the film so as to know the real score about the characters and story.

I completely agree about reading the book first, as so much is left out of the films (as well done as they are). Then again I tend to find that is the case with any book/movie combination. It's definitely worth it to read them again once you've finished the series - you discover so much more on a second//third reading that you didn't see the first time around.

Harry Potter - Harry Potter
I've read all of them at least twice and most three times. I'm not up to your count but I do enjoy them very, very much. Harry's my hero.

Is Harry your favorite character? I don't know who my favorite character is, but I think they are all extremely wellt hought out and developed. J.K. thought out the backstory of every student in Harry's year before writing - she knows all of her characters so well. I think it's amazing!

I lost track after a while. I know that I've read the first 4 over 12 times and book six 4 or 5 times. book five is somewhere in between. I just keep rereading them and can't get enough. I think it is partially because the series isn't over and I really want to know how it ends.

I know what you mean... I'm so incredibly anxious for book 7 to come out... I can't wait! I want to know what the title is going to be... I think I'll go do a bit of searching (though she probably hasn't released it yet) for gossip and such :)

I knwo what you mean! I have to make sure I don't have anything I need to do the following week because once I start one I have to read them all. But surpringly enough there are people who have responded that they haven't even read the books once let alone multiple times! It's sad how much they are missing out on...

I have all the books. I only read them once. I will watch the movies over and over.

Watching the movies again can be a quick way to get my Harry Potter fix when I need it and don't have 4 days to devote to reading the whole series over, but I find it's a much richer experience to be able to sit down and immerse myself into the novels. They have so much that the movies are lacking... Definitely worth reading again to discover new things within.

It definitely should be up there at the top! It really is a fantastic series. I have many friends who resisted and resisted reading it and when they finally did they were shocked at what they'd been missing out on. I love your display pic by the way, Don Hertzfeld?

Umh. I read vol 3 till 5 tim. But other volume only 1-2 time (from book vol 1, and 4) the rest of it only once. too long. I read it skiming ^^

They are quite long, but it is definitely worth it to read the later books over again, at least once or twice more - you notice so many things in a second or third reading that you didn't notice during the first time around. Hence the complexitiy of the storylines and why they are so fantastic!

Agreed. Every now and then I have to read it over - I also love checking out J K Rowling's website and other Harry Potter sites for news and updates about book 7, rumours that J.K. turns down, etc.

I know what you mean about not getting bored of the series. Every now and then I get the urge to read through the entire series again, and usually get through all six books in 3-4 days.
