He was attacked on Jan 19, 2005 at just 30 days old. DURJOY had been fed acid, and as a result, his mouth had disintegrated, and had to be restructured. Previous to coming to ASF, he was unable to take (food solid or liquid) orally, and was being fed intravenously. On the 10th March 2006, DURJOY was operated at ASF hospital by Dr. Ronald Hiles. The operation lasted 7 hours, and was an extremely complicated one. As his mouth had disintegrated, he could not receive anesthesia, but had to have his neck opened to receive the anesthetic. The toll of the surgery was immense to Durjoy’s small body, and on the 11th March 2006, he suffered from heart failure. He is now in ICU and although his heart has resettled, he is not out of danger. He needs a long time critical treatment, which is extremely costly. We are paying approximately $250 USD per day for his treatment. We are appealing urgently for donations to help in DURJOY’s treatment and recovery.
