I was going through my email today and got this picture from a friend. All I could say was "Wow!" It is most definitely the most unusual flower I've ever seen in my whole life. It's called a "parrot flower" and grows in Thailand (maybe other countries also). It honestly looks just like a parrot. What do you think? Have you ever seen a flower like this or one that's even more unusual?

I'm glad someone sent it to me in an email so that I could share. I'd never seen anything that came close to it myself.
Appreciate your input.

That is a truly beautiful flower Claudia and it does look like a parrot too. I have never seen this flower before so perhaps it is only grown in Thailand.
One flower that I love is a tuberose, which has a very strong scent and has a waxy type of flower. The flower stem can grow up to about 4 feet and it has flowers for more than half of the stem. The flowers come out a bit like gladiolis in that they open slowly one or two at a time.

Ossie, I bet I'd love tuberoses since gladiolas are one of my favorite flowers. Appreciate your input.

Nice picture, I saved it. I've never seen anything like that. Makes you wonder where the line between plants and animals ends and begins. It truly does look like a bird.

That's what I thought, too. Very unusual and very beautiful at the same time.

I always liked the passion flower as a child. It has a whole story about it, relating it to Christ. I can only remember it has 3 stamens represent his wounds and/or the trinity, and 12 petals for the apostles. My brothers used to have a lot more, but I can't remember them now.

Growing up in South Florida, I always saw plenty of passion flowers. They were one of my favorites, and I still think they're beautiful. Thanks for sharing and for posting the link.

How lovely, it is like a watercolor art work. I can imagine that their fragrance is as appealing to the senses as their appearance.
My folks have a neighbor with a bird of paradise plant - they are also quite unique.
I have a child who is quite the carnivorous plant enthusiast, he has propagated many a unique treasure.

Bird of paradise is a beautiful flower also. I hope your child keeps up with the propagation. It might even lead to something to do when an adult also.

Yes, and that's one of my favorite flowers. I used to have some in my yard before we moved here. I may even get some again. They're really beautiful.

I've seen this picture via an email as well. I think it's very unusual and also very beautiful. I love seeing things like this when nature makes the most interesting designs.
