Tuxedo's and Evening Wear!

It is so nice to get all dressed up in evening wear & the men in tuxedo's or nice suits, but most events lately are not formal. What are your views?

I avoid evening wear events if I can. I don't like formal events as they are a waste of money. You end up buying a dress, shoes and purse for a one time event knowing you won't wear them again and will spend the night ocmpletely uncomfortable since you rarely wear dress shoes. I have better things to do with my money.
