Have you stopped to realize just how much of a melting pot America is? Some people have very common last names such as Johnson and Smith, however not ALL of us have these names. My last name is a German name and means Rooster. I have a lot of German in my blood and have a great story behind my last name... I think it's great that the US is a country blended together from all different places and that nearly every family in the US has some kind of story to tell of how their family first came to the US. You hear about immigrants this, and immigrants that.. and people moving to the US for "The American Dream" and how some people think this is a downfall of our society.. however... that's how most of us got here in the first place! What does your family name mean for you?

Your last name has no meaning at all? I think that you may be incorrect in saying that... all last names have some history behind them. Keep searching, I'm sure you'll find SOMETHING!

Rooster... ha that is funny. Here is all I could fine from this site... http://www.searchforancestors.com/ (Celtic) Dark - Complexioned Chief or Hero [Irish O'Dubhlaigh, genitive of Dubhlaoch - dubh, black, dark + laoch]. (English) Dweller at the Doe-Pasture [Middle English doo, Old English da, a doe + Middle English ley, Old English leah, a pasture]. My ancestory is Irish so I guess that makes me a chief or a hero... way better than a rooster... ;)
