saw the latest Mission Impossible 3 movie. I enjoyed the 3rd a lot actually. Although obviously unrealistic, it seemed more credible, especially the parts showing how gadgets, like the masks, are made. People hurted for real, and Ethan sometime made mistakes, like a normal human being. In other words, they added a little bit of refreshing grittiness and human emotions, like the recent Batman Returns movie. The first one was intelligent, serious, with some real nice action scenes that pushed the envelope for the time and an interesting script for those that can appreciate a little complexity. The 2nd was a generic, Steven Seagal type of simple minded action movie. Let's not even talk about the complete overuse of the mask magic trick. It ranks with the likes of Batman 3&4. I don't understand people who prefer the 2nd one, seriously. It's a John Woo clone for teens that could have worked in the 80s, but today's audience are somewhat more sophisticated. You can't do John Wayne war movies anymore since Saving Private Ryan, and it's the same thing here. I watched the 3rd one it with low expectations, considering the 2nd crapfest of a movie, but I was pleasantly surprised with the return of the spy theme and a more realistic tone. The special effects were great yet not overdone to the point of being completly out of this world. They finally reached to the over-14 crowd.
