What type it is MERCURY--N-GLASS or some other? Do you use it quite often for yourself/other members of family?

Yes, I keep mercury-glass type of thermometers (2 at a time) at home. Sometimes the mercury gets stuck (I experienced once, so I cross check the reading of one with the other always.

Did you ever felt a need for one? How you managed to find out the fever? Are the doctors nearby?

Yes, we do have the thermometer at our home. Its very handy instrument which can help us keeping check on the body temperature whenever we feel some extra warmth in the body or rise in body heat. The mercury mark deviates from the zero mark to 98.4 F if the body temperature is normal else it will show some deviated reading. It is basically used to diagnose the mild to severe temperature at home itself. If the mild temperature is there then we may take some medicine like Crocin or paracetamol but ifs rising morew than 101 F then we have to consult the doctor for the proper diagnosis and medical attention.

Digital one's these days are by far easier to handle and far smaller. I own a digital one, rarely use it, even when I'm ill. Although I've never been seriously ill, unless you include love sickness :)

Mercury thermometer for me. It's not failed me each time with readings. Some electronic ones do not perform so well as I've tried using ones from Omron before. Funny thing is when you have it in the house, the need to use it reduces drastically than compared to if you didn't have one available.

In our household we have several thermometers. We do not have a Mercury--N-Glass thermometer because we have a young child in the home. Personally I like my basil thermometer the best. I used it when we were trying to conceive, but ended up liking it afterwards because it temps to the hundredths. We also have a thermometer that scans the forehead. They are neat, but I find they vary on accuracy.
