Blue October-Required Viewing?

The song Blue October does called "Hate Me" is so compelling and trajic. I just recently discovered this band and song by complete accident while online and I just gotta say If someone would have required me to sit down and watch that video and listen to those lyrics back when I was say in 8th grade (I'm 43 now) it may have changed my life. The pain and despair is thick enough to taste and it makes me want to go back and watch it again in hopes that it ends different...but it never does. Does anyone else think this kind of thing (music videos) could somehow be used as a deterrent to drug use and abuse for our kids? I think if kids were exposed to videos like this (videos are something they can relate to) right at the time in their lives when drugs are beckoning for that first time "try it" it could really be effective. Education about drug abuse and what it can do to you can be so clinical and hard to relate to for alot of youth and often times the information is given so far in advance that it just doesnt stick around in their growing heads very long. Or it is sadly given after it is too late and then.....the problem already exists. These kind of videos are so real, I think it would be a good idea....

The song is really cool, but once I saw the video I did not like the song as much. It is really depressing and sad and I did not like the things that were shown in the video.

I am a huge Blue October fan, have been for years. This is one of my favorite songs specifically because of the video. The video is real and not sugar-coated by putting an unrealistically happy ending on. I do believe that videos such as this one could very likely influence someone, anyone to make better choices in their life. The video is sad yes, but the message it is supposed to send is positive.

I too have been a huge blue october fan for years. In fact although this one is not particulary one of my fav songs, all of the songs are very theraputic. Justin, the lead, has had a very rough time and over come many obsticals in life. You get a much better feel if you listen to all of albums: Foiled, Questions, Answere, and consent to treatment. They are all great and you can tell that the whole of the music and lyrics are from the heart. The songs also helped me mentaly overcome a few things in my own life that I had been struggeling with for years.

i love the song, however the music video is too narrow.. the music video is ITS ABOUT HIS MOM.... NO REALLY ITS ABOUT HIS MOM... Whereas, the song doesn't set up a specific topic the song reminds me of my ex's, however i reminds my roommate of his friends. THE SONG IS AWESOME...video not so great
