The main difference between police and military is when the police looks after law and order situation in the country and implement rules of law, the military defend the country and its people against enemy. Both of them stand for the safety of the people and the country. Which service is the most royal service you feel, military or police? I think military.

I would say serving in the Army or for that matter in Navy or Airforce is the Royal service in the sense, it is noblest of all the professions, it has graciousness of the first order, and I cannot say they live royally all the time, but most of the time where peace exists. Tension prevails only during the war, or internal strife. Whereas the police work is really horrible. No fixed timings for work, they harrass and get harrassed, involved in bribery or favourism. Not much work but tension 365 days. No leave and fixed timing for work.

its the military i guess, they are the ones who leave their families behind to sere their country, and police are much more destined to be traffic officers, and crime busters of their local community.
