How many times have you been wronged by a business, but couldn't do much about it? Let me give you an example; item is priced wrong in your favor. Cashier may argue that the correct price is $$$$. You say let me speak to the manager...the manager responds oh, it’s a new guy pricing these items; he may have put the wrong stickers on a few of these items. Do you still want this item? You say yes, but for the sticker price, not the price you say it is. He than says no, I'm sorry, but I can't do that... What would or have you done in a situation like this?

Well in the few places that this has happened they have always given it to me at the price on the package because it is there mistake. In Erie County in New York State if they charge you the wrong price then what is on the sticker and you notice it after they have cashed you out your eligable for a "super refund" Below is a part of the actual law I got off of the county website. It is supposed to cut down on things like this. In Erie County, we enforce provisions of Local Law 7 (1997). At all establishment which were granted a waiver from item pricing, the store is required to pay out a 'super refund' when a pricing error occurs. This is 10 times the amount of the error, not less than $1 or more than $10, plus the amount of the error. They are required to properly fill out the County's Price Descrepancy Report and give a copy to the consumer. However with the type of person I am if it is not a HUGE difference I will pay what they say if it is I would say just forget it and not buy it.

To my knowledge most stores have to give it to you at the price it's marked at, even if its wrong. I have been in this situation before and I just asked to speak with a manager. There is no need to argue. You are less likely to get what you want when you argue. And for the record the cust is NOT always right, I work in management & I have had to deal with PLENTY of customers who were wrong but insisted I had todo what they said just because they were the customer. Just because you are the customer does not give you the right to be rude & demand things go your way. That whole statement just needs to be removed from our world/planet whatever LOL

The original customer was not saying the customer is always right as you assume. See, there once was a time where customers who had a discrepency were treated with more respect. However, today, it is very rare to see this in business. It use to be a highly effective marketing tool, that a business respect every customer, hence the old saying "The Customer's Always Right." Unfortunately, there are too many who scam stores, and on the flip side there are many incompetent employees that don't like their jobs yet need a paycheck, and they have terrible attitudes and are not customer service friendly. I work in the medical field, and we are trained with the old customer service motto in mind, but in our case, "The patient is always right." If we get nasty or rude to a patient even if they are nasty and rude--guess what? We are reprimanded or worse we are fired. Businesses use to expect their employees to have respect for the customer no matter what, a customer could be rude and disrespectful, and the employee had to grin and bare it. Why, because they didn't want the customer to go out and talk bad about the business. This concept was especially effective for small town businesses. I don't ever expect to go to a store and have an employee show any attitude toward me. I simply hate the lazy ones that are rude when you simple ask them where something is. Work ethics are going down the tubes.

I find that the customer is rarely right. and most of the time, it is something that the store has done. its always their mistake, but they dont think so. or they wont give you what you want, even though its their mistake. ugh.
