I like to selecte the best reponse by the amount of time I think someone has spent on writing it. If someone has only put a short sentence then I feel that it is not as good as someone who has given a considered reply and tried to think before they write it down! I think picking a best reponse improves the reputation of the writer of it and increases their rating on mylot. I also think that picking a best response encourages people to make quality contributions which boost the overall quality of the site. Otherwise Mylot just because a pointless exercise. I don't like seeing one line answers to peoples discussions, but have to admit that i'm guilty of it myself sometimes.

I don't quite agree with the point of spending time in responding. What if someone spent enough time but didn't reply in the proper aspect, I know the chances of this very little.... Just needed an argument to keep this topic running ;) I agree with you that the amount of time spent by someone and the quality of his/her response should be the criteria in choosing a best response. Thanks for replying.
