ipod or mp3 / myLot

Whats the differance? whats better? My daughters asked for one for Christmas. I don't know what one to get what one will be better in the long run. HELP

i like both but prefer an Ipod. U can store many songs in it and the size makes it easy for us to carry it wherever we go.
