Yes it would last longer but with positive turns for US. US cant digest the emerging power of China. So he got the base in the shape of India. Pakistan doesnt stands anywhere in terms of the NATO base... US cant afford to lose India as its base... Moreover as India being its base it could keep a check on Russia too. So US got one of the best opportunities to strenghten its base. India would never be able to get nuclear santions on its terms n conditions.
