If you were giving your kid an advice about a situation, would you just imagine yourself dealing with the same situation, or you're just gonna advise him to do the right thing, regardless?? I know that sometimes they match, but I'm afraid on many other times they don't!! what do you think?

i would say what the best thing for the kids are, not how i would deal with the situation. you are right sometimes they don't match

I would just tell them to do what they think is right and follow their heart.

It's a fact sometime it conflicts each other. So your advice should be in good intention with far reaching result and not for short term gain.

It would depend on the situation they were dealing with. I try to tell them the "right thing" to do, but as you say it may not be appropriate from a child's perspective. Good question!
