A man claiming to be a Martian attempted to sue NASA for trespassing when they sent probes to Mars. He was very adament about it and wrote letters to newspapers and everything. The lawsuit was thrown out, obviously, but it got some publicity just for being so very, very bizarre.

the strangest laawsuit i heard was how a certain packaged item like some potato chip packages has a tear here description on the package but cannot really open it because there are no guide/small cut to tear it with.

Well, the one I think of is when a woman was at McDonald's and she was sitting down reading the newspaper as she drank her McDonald's coffee. She accidentally spilled the coffee on herself and filed suit with McDonald's claiming their coffee was too hot, and they had not carefully given attention to make the beverage responsibly hot. SHE spilled it on herself, SHE sued, and SHE was rewarded a million dollars. Crazy!
