Have you ever grown mold in your refrigerator?

There have been instances of bowls of leftovers getting shoved behind other things and finding them when a lot of time has passed. You recognize that this is the bowl you put that leftover food from dinner 3 weeks ago in...and it is too scary to lift the lid and look. Do you look to see if you've created a unique and unusual science project? or do you just toss the bowl away?

If this happened to me, I would just toss the bowl away as it is easier to replace the bowl and I would feel so much safer. I have not had mold in my refrigerator as of yet and hope it stays that way. I have had it in my bathroom before but not my refrigerator.

My husband is good about putting leftovers in the fridge and then never wanting to eat them. So, we don't get mold in the refridgerator, but have grown some really cool mystery foods in the bowls. I won't empty them myself...I'd throw them away also...but he'll empty them and wash them out instead of throwing away a bowl!

I seriously don't do it on purpose, but I grow mold on most of my leftovers. My husband won't eat them and I think oh-it would be good for lunch tomorrow, next thing you know, I'm out of tupperware and do not want to open the refridgerator. I useually cheat and wait for my husband to come home so he can empty the containers. YUCK!!

That is too funny! That's what I do! Most of the leftovers he puts in there, and then forgets about them! So, if I notice hmmm...I think that might have been mashed potatoes from 2 weeks ago...I'm not going to look in there! And I let him empty out the containers! No kids at home to eat the leftovers...

I had some cheeses left over at new year in one of those presentation box thingys, it got shoved to the back and suddenly the fridge onked every time the door opened. I put it in the bin and cleaned the fridge but guess what - it still smells. I've put lemon juice and bicarb in there too so it's only a matter of time, strange thing is that it didn't look manky. This is not something that usually happens in my fridge, can't remember having to throw anything away before

lol! i don't remember discovering aliens in my refrigerator because, more often than not, my kids always finish up whatever they find there. you'd think they haven't eaten for ages!

I have a big family so there are not many leftovers. Occaissionally I have forgotten about something and it is awful. I just throw it away, wash the bowl and lid, and then disinfect it overnight.

have you been peeking in my dayplanner? cleaning the fridge is on my to do list for tomorrow. I have about six bowls of UFM (unidentifed foreign matter) in there right now. I share my house with my grown children and we all put stuff in there with the best intentions of using it for lunch or a snack but somehow it usually just takes up residence and starts it own little mold farm. probably the worst experience I ever had was when I moved from a one bedroom apt to a 2 bedroom in the same complex. The manager agreed to waive the cleaning deposit if I took the new apartment as is. Well, not actually new, the previous tenants had moved out about 2 weeks prior. And of course they had the power shut off. And left the fridge door shut. And they hadn't emptied it. So when I opened it, it was green. Top, bottom, sides, racks, all covered in green mold. YUCK.

Oh my! That was certainly disgusting! It's bad enough cleaning out your own home-grown mystery foods, but worse to clean out someone elses! LOL!

EWWWW! I hate it when this happens. Usually it is because someone has shoved the container clear to the back of the refrigerator. Sometimes I clean out the container if it is something I can stomach, other times it is just not worth it! I throw away the whole thing.

I keep my fridge clean and throw spoil food out oftenly, so I haven't seen a mold yet.
