Every time I dye my hair it comes out different. Even if I use the same brand and exact same shade. Today I used ashe blonde and got dark auburn.

You might want to contact the manufacturer and explain what happened to your hair after using their product. Good lucks!

I did that one time years ago. They basically said that it isn't guaranteed, and there are too many variables to think it could be their fault.

Hmmmm...I have ashe blonde that I was planning to use to dye my hair soon too. No doubt that my hair is going to go red but it will be interesting to see the shade. The ash colors are supposed to help with the red tendencies but both times my hair was colored in and out of the salon, it went red anyhow. The decision seems to be whether I should go gray or accept the red.

Yea, I remember the first time you dyed your hair and were surprised to see the red. Apparently, I had never told you that my hair almost always comes out some shade of red. I think the one exception was Hydriance Ash blond. I think that one just made my hair a light brown. This time I went back to Garnier Fructis (cus of RiteAid) and I suppose that was it. I may try Hydrience again next time to check my theory. However, I might have gotten those ones cheap cus they were discontinued. In that case I'm out of luck!

maybe you should just save the hassle and go to a salon to dye your hair. then you can pretty much ensure that you'll get your hair the color you want.

I wish I could. I'm kind of poor right now.

Make sure you are dying dirty hair. Maybe you are also leaving it on too long. It can also depend on what color your hair is when you start. If you want to go lighter than what you start with, you may need to use a hair bleach first. As your hairdresser too. They know exactly how to mix the colour you want to cover the colour you start with.
