Would anyone else like to see a section where it tells you the reasons why you lose points, I would like to know if I am doing something wrong so I can learn from it and not continue doing it.I know it would probably be too time consuming for Mylot but I think beneficial for Mylot posters....what do you think....?????

There is no section which describes you about the Points you lost. I have lost my points many times, but i have never come to know why it was reduced. When i put a discussion about this, people told me that i have written some posts against to their rules. But i really dont think so that i have done it. I always reply to the good discussion. So may be its Mylot rules and regulations where we do not meet with the reply we make.

Mylot did issue an alert not long ago explaining why points were being lost , you can lose points if a topic you have responded to get deleted also. If they delete a topic the respones to that topic goes with it.

1. If you type the discussion topic in capital letters you will not get points 2. If you write abusive response / or discussion topic, you will not get points 3. If you write scanty response with 1 word, two words, you may not get points. 4. If you cut and paste the answers (respoonse) you may not get the points. For further details read mylot guidelines.

Well they did send an alert to explain why they do it and I think the other day I los about 8 points but I think they came back to me later so I think they are being very fair and I must admit they have improved the topics a lot.

Mylot has sent an alert out to explaine why this is happening, it is happening because some topics are being deleted because they either breach the rules or are not up to standard and this is a good thing, the topics have improved since they started doing this so it is a good thing...

I'm pretty new to myLot but I have long history of working with other online communities. I am not going to say that I'm right but I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that it works the same here as other places. Depending on the structure of their forum, it's probably set up that, when they have to delete a post, all the replies after that get deleted automatically, whether or not those posts have any violations. This structure exists on many other websites and the members of those communities get upset too, when they think they are being "unfairly" deleted. A lot of times, if you don't think you did anything wrong, you probably didn't :) Moderators take a lot of flack all over the 'net for deleting unfairly ... and most of the time, they don't even control it -- they delete what they have to, according to the guidelines they're given, and the software takes the rest of the discussion automatically. Personally, I just try to avoid posting after members whose posts appear to violate the site guidelines because I assume they will eventually get deleted. I don't care to get deleted along with them so I look for other discussions to participate in instead. :)

yes I think you could be right but I also think Mylot is very fair and I think they return some of the lost points at a latter stage, I lost about 7 points one day and then later on during the day I received abour 8points from nowhere, I think Mylot has done a lot to make this a quality posting forum and are very fair in their actions so I guess we all just have to have faith the right thing is being done which I feel is the case.

That's great to know and thanks, lilaclady :) As I said, I'm new here but really enjoying it so far. I'm sure they have a great system in place and I hope to learn more as I go. Nice "meeting" you!

It sometimes happens to me when I go on and off mylot. Now I haven't been on it for about a week and a half and fortunately, all my points were there..i haven't lost any. I would like to know why this happens too.

definately i dont like, or wish to lose points, i dont need a section from mylot telling me so, the best is to change their system, i dont like them awarding me with points, then get it away anytime they like..
