Have you ever recieved an unexpected bill that almost floored you? How much more was the bill than it normally was? What was it for? I've never had such an experience but my boyfriend has. He misunderstood our cellphone plan and recieved a bill for over $1000!

Have I ever. Over this past summer, I tore down an old privacy fence and built a new one in it's place. Somehow, we still hit a gas line. The gas company came out ASAP, had it repaired in under an hour. They said there would be no charge, which kind of surprised me. This was months ago, and just about a week ago I received a bill for over $1000 from them. Two days later, they called wondering where the payment was. What? 2 days and you expect payment already?! I was surprised to get the bill, surprised at how rude they have been, and surprised it is over $1000 for under an hour of work. I am in the wrong business! Jim

I have had that happen. I received my credit card bill a couple months ago and it was for 400$ more then I expected. I didn't think I spent that much money, but I forgot about the interest and what not on the unpaid amounts.

Mine was for a dental bill on my youngest son when I had no insurance to cover it. I almost passed out when I seen the bill. It was much more than I expected, but I guess the estimated costs included insurance, if we would have had some on him. It was almost a $1000 more than what I expected.

Our son has a cell phone and pays his own cell phone bill. He's gotten quite an experience being on the phone with customer service a couple times when they billed him wrong for way too much. I think it's been a good experience for him learning how to handle his own bills and to speak up when something isn't right. He's done pretty well!

After we had our son, the hospital decided to send us their initial bill of over $17,000! LOL But we waited a few more weeks and they finally sent us the RIGHT bill... I forgot how much it was but it was a lot less than $17,000! :) Thank goodness for insurance huh?

Oh my gosh, that is a big bill $1,000. What was it suppose to be? I get upset when each time I open an electric bill, it is higher and higher. I have never gotten an unexpected bill. So no shock there.

that's good. He was under the impression that it was a set rate of like $100 per month (a plan)

As far as I know, we pay all our bills on time, so we won't have any surprises like that.

Had the same thing with my cell phone once, though not that high lol. I thought the certain night time plan was included, but it wasn't. My 40.00 bill was 400.00. Every now and then I'll get my gas or electric bill, and it'll be a bit higher-nothing extreme though. I usually try to brace myself ahead of time lol, ok we used the air conditioner a lot this month, bill should run about 250.00, then when I get the bill it's usually less then I thought so I'm a little happier.

I sure have! Last month I discovered that I had a quiet and slow leak in one of the toilets, which $578 water bill. then I paid the plumber twice to fix it and the sump pump which was entirely unrelated. Then the basement flooded because the sump pump wasn't fixed right and then I had to call someone to fix the furnace which had been watered out and would not turn on from the flooding. All in all it was a very bad few weeks with a total of a $1000 bill at the end

in my home back.. once we were in recipet of Electricity bill which cost 20,000/Rs. we were shocked. then my brothers went to the relevant department and sent the complain that we didnot consume that much electricity so why we pay that bill......... so after so much clearation it was declared that it was sent by mistake...and then after very hard work we finally get our real bill which we paid off at the moment... it was horrible experience of life.

A year ago, we got our electric/heating bill in the mail and it was over $400. We are now on the budget plan so we don't get any more surprises like that one.

worse I've had was a $1000 water bill which usually ran about $60 a month. We had a water leak at the end of our driveway that ran none stop for a week while we argued with the water company that it was their responsibility to fix it. They argued it was outside the meterbox therefore our problem to fix, we argued it was their heavy @ss ditch digger that ran over it and broke it in the first place. We finally settled on us fixing it (fixed it myself, cost $50 for pipe, clamps, etc) and them dropping the $1000 water bill. So in the end they covered that month's bill, I paid $50 thus saving $10 and getting the other 3 weeks free lol

I had a bill with the hospital I was paying on monthly and finally paid it off. They continued to send me bills with a $0 balance for several months. It was quite unexpected when I got a dirty letter in the mail from a collections agency demanding the $0 I owed the hospital.

Yes! My cell phone bill many times. The highest was about $400. My normal bill was only $39. I freaked out but never called the phone company. I found out later I should have and they would have credited my account.
