I know email is a part of our lives, but what about personal email at work? My company is under heavy security and blocks all email access outside of the company, not to mention MySpace, etc. Discuss your personal email habits at work.

my work doesn't give me enough to do during the day so they pay me to be on myspace and my lot haha! I would be coached if they found out but what else is there to do. I get my work done, so I don't know what else to do but fill my time with this or research. We are allowed to check email and personal website things but if we are found to be on it excessively then we can get fired.

The restrictions on my work email are rather over the top. I am able to access my work email from home, and I am able to send and receive email to and from external sources, but these messages are limited to text only. If I use an attachment of any kind then the email is automatically quarantined and deleted. This can most incomvenient, and means that I am unable to create a spreadsheet at home and them transfer it to work.

I think that there should be some precautions with email at work, but obviously, since I'm on MyLot and at work, I can't really complain too much. I understand why companies (esp. larger ones) limit emails at work, they have to protect their computers from viruses and spam. I think however, that urgent and emergency emails should be delivered, b/c for some, that's the fastest way to be reached.

you should know what kinds of things can show up on the computer without some kind of control on it. can get pretty spicey for sure so to cut down on it companies put good and expensive controls on their property and if you had to pay for say 5 computers or more sure adds up and i for one would have to lay out that kind of money would do the same thing to protect me or my company...

I would prefer to check my personal e-mail at home. The same goes for online business; I'll wait until I get home. I just don't want to open up my personal life that much to employers. Besides, they're paying you to work, not conduct personal business.

We can't check our email at work either and I don't have a problem with that. I can wait until I get home
