It all depends on what we are looking for. For regular income, employment may be better; with small business, it may be more hard work. Then again if you like challenges, it may be for you. However, in the internet age, it seems doing some small business/ home business and earning big bucks seems to be altogether possible.

To some extent, it depends on your character and reasons for preferring a small business.
If the idea of no time requirements other than what you choose interests you and believe you’ll have a lot of time off, you’re wrong. You will work a hell of a lot more and a lot harder than you will ever if you’re employed; after all it’s in your interest.
If you have the discipline to decide when you’ll work and stick to it, rather than going off and doing something else then you’ll be a success if not, stick in employment and enjoy being told what to do and when to do it.
