Is the behaviour of being helpful in one country differ with others?

I've spend my life time mostly in Indonesia, but these ten years, I've been traveling alot through asia, europe and USA. I'm so concerned with the way people treat each other and the way people behave to others in different countries. In my country, I see people so helpful enywhere, everywhere. We have so much time help each other. We don't consider time is money, so we don't care helping others hours without being paid. But in modern country that sense of sincere help is away now. I rarely see people help others in such a way that it's for good, from the deepest of the heart.

Well, people become more and more selfish as time goes by, and many little things that used to matter doesn't matter anymore to them.
