I know when our son was first born, they told us not to put anything else with him in the crib. Last time we went to the doctor they said it was ok to give him a small toy or something he could cuddle with. Now, that it is cold outside, is it ok to put a blanket over him in the crib? He's 8 months old and can move around pretty well in his crib. When can you stop/diminish worring about suffocating from blankets and toys in the crib?

After six mnths it is very much ok and safe to put any blanket or any other toy in the crib...After 8 mnths babies can understand and want to be assured that they r not alone in the crib...So they need something to cuddle or feel the warmth....So u can stop worrying now...

I've always had blankets in with my daughter = she wiggles a lot too.
If you're worried, try buying a baby sleeping bag - it looks like a sleeping bag with arms - you put them inside, with their PJ's on & then they cant kick off or lose blankets & you have no worries!

We always made sure that we after she was asleep we put a blanket on her. Now she is a year and we have a pillow and at blanket and her favorite stuffed animal.

I say toys are ok as long as they are soft. a blaket would have to be small and lightweight. no blanktes that can really be tucked or folded more then twice . Close to 6 mos. Depend on how active the chile is come nap time or bed time
