Do you make your spahgetti sauce from scratch or buy the jarred sauce?

My mom and stepdad always make it from scratch. The recipe has been in his family forever. I usually open a jar and add spices because I'm not home all day to watch a pot of homemade sauce.

I always make it from scratch because I don't like the flavour of the ones we buy on the store. They always taste funny.

Home made sauce is always better, isn't it? I just went out to a place notorious for it's sauce and it wasn't even half as good as my moms.

I do both, depending on the mood I am in and the time I have on my hands, I think that homemade is always bettr, but the store bought is ok.

I usually buy the sauce in a jars and then add spices, fresh vegetables, and meat of my own. I usually make my own alfredo sauce though, because it's easy and only has a few ingredients.

I don't like bolegnase so normally just buy the spagetti and some kind of sauce in a jar, both seperate from one another.

I do a combination. I generally will buy pre-made sauce and doctor it up enough where it tastes homemade.

That's usually what I do too. I get Heinz or Hunts I think...it comes in a can rather than a jar. It's a really basic sauce and I add to it.

I usually make it from scratch unless I am lazy. It isn't that hard to do but sometimes I don't feel like being the chef.... You know and keeping a can or two around is good for me. That way my boyfriend can at least heat it up and make his own since he can't cook....

My fiance is the same way - when I first met him he made me spahgetti... oh it was so awful. The noodles weren't done all the way and he just opened the jar of sauce and put it on the noodles cold. Yuck!

I used to make it from scratch, but got lazy over the years. The kids don't care either way, so I'm happy.

If I have time I'll make it from scratch, but that's about 10% of the time if that often. Otherwise I like Emeril's Kicked Up Tomato one.

That's cool that you do some of the cooking. I've never had Emeril's... maybe I'll try that one next time.

I depends on what I am making. Sometimes I make it from scratch and sometimes I buy it in a jar. My kids like it from a jar. My husband likes it from scratch. I like the jar because it is less work for me.

Interesting post to read as I have a pot of homemade sauce on the stove right now. I make mine from scratch. My kids love it. Then when it's done I put some in those ziploc containers and I freeze it. Then when I need something for dinner I take out one container of sauce and add pasta to it. Cheap dinner and good. If you have company take two out. Honestly we have a hard time eating sauce in some store bought things now. I was at A & P one day and I picked up one of their lasanga's and my kids wouldn't eat it because they thought the sauce was terrible.

Well, lately we have been doing ours also from a Jar, but my husband makes a mean Spagetti sauce from Scratch, and I need to think about buying all of the ingredients so we can make it again. We use a Crockpot and put in all of the ingredients and let it simmer for at least 12 hrs. It is SO good. But the problem sometimes too, is time. I work the Swing shift, and he works days and we have different days off so it makes it rough sometimes.

I learned from my mom I would never have jarred sauce Ive had it about 2 times in my life time, and it was disquisting. I simply wont eat it. It saves money too because you make a big pot of it and freeze the rest.

I prefer the home made stuff too I just don't have time to make it with work, school, internship and my fiance.

I typically buy the stuff in the jar and add a few things to it. I still take my time cooking the stuff in the jar though by cookin git on the lowest heat setting. That way everything that I add to the sauce has a chance to cook into it.

I do both. I love making my own sauce when I have the time, as I know exactly what's in it and that it can be made healthy. When I'm more strapped on time or just don't feel like cooking too much, I use Prego. It's a nice, cheap, and of course easy alternative.

This is true - I like knowing exactly what is in my food.
