Is it weird that I'm not with it when it comes to pop music?

My sister sent out a mass email today saying that she was going to be at a concert where Fall Out Boy would be playing. I had no idea who that was, even though my Dad completely did. This is not the first time this has happened. If you look at my profile, I don't listen to the current pop music. I don't pay attention to it at ALL. I just turned 30. Now someone tell me - is it just because I'm stuck with the music that I love best, I'm really not missing out on much, I need to get with it, or is this just a case of me getting older and not knowing "what the kids these days" are listening to?

judging from what you listen to, i think that you're fine not listening to the latest music, particularly the latest pop music. You've got Daft Punk on your list, so you've obviously picked up a few "new" records in the last 5-10 years, so I wouldn't worry about it at all - if there's something that is your kinda thing, i'm sure that you can find out about it with a little bit of effort. But no need to keep track of a bunch of music that you're not going to like the majority of anyway!

Thanks for the reply. This is exactly the way I feel about it. I'm not stupid - I pick up on good new stuff when I find it. I just don't follow everything out there. You're right. :)

The only reason I know anything at all about pop music is because I have two daughters.
