Shorthand versus longhand

Is shorthand still used in the workfield. I have not anything about it lately. It was one of my subjects at school, but I have not kept it up. It was quite a boring subject, very repetitive. We learnt the pitmans version.

i don't think they use that anymore. I remember years ago my sister took it and she feels it was a waste because she used it only a couple of years. Now a days even in the doctors office he speaks into a recorder and gives it to the nurse to put in the computer.
