Are you allergic to Iodine or know someone who is?
I have discovered Iodine hidden in many things which of course causes problems for me. Usually it is hidden in the inactive ingredients. Have you found any hidden iodine in medications, foods or drinks?
A couple of things that I have found such hidden iodine in are:
Baby formula: only carnation good start does not have it.
Medicines: Many pain relievers have Povidone (which is a form of iodine) in them including lortabs, oxycodone, percecet, vicodin, nuprin (a form of ibuprofen)
So if you are allergic to iodine like I am it behooves us to discover what is safe for us. Often pharmacists and doctors do not check inactive ingredients so we are stuck with finding the information ourselves. Therefore I am curious to find out what hidden iodine you have discovered so I can avoid such items in the future.

Wow! I did not realize that. I am not allergic to iodine but I will certainly keep it in mind when I discover a friend with this allergy. Thanks for the information. It is very interesting!

I am allergic to Iodine. I never have thought to look into ingredients for iodine. I have taken percecet before and it made me sick but I never gave it a thought as to why. I just figured it was too strong for me. I will have to keep watch for this. Thank you for this information.

That was probably what did it. Not sure though but it could be. What's interesting though is percecet has it but not percedan (same medicine except aspirin instead of Tylenol and no Tylenol doesn't have it in it). I have found it in a lot of things. I can't take multivitamins for the same reason. It's also in things like slim fast. It's hard when you are allergic to something that is very commonly used.

I'm not allergic to iodine, nor do I know anyone who is. If I hear of anyone who is, I'll be sure to tell them to check the inactive ingredients before they buy stuff. That's something that everyone should probably do if they have any kind of allergy (which I do). Thanks for the heads up!

Oh you're welcome. I know we have to watch for iodine and sulfa products. Both have a tendency to be hidden inside things. For medications the best one I've found for checking is RX list. http://www.rxlist.com/ They list everything including active and inactive.

I know how that goes. Bee/Wasp allergies run in my family as well. They are not fun and you do have to becareful. Even if you haven't had a severe attack you could later on in life.
