Talk about all of your 2008 Election hopes and dreams here. Right now, things look good for the Democrats, but obviously it is a long ways away and we'll see what kind of gains, if any, they can make in '06. Hillary Clinton has to be considered the favorite for the nomination, but not by me. I'd like to see a governor who has proven ability to run in a centrists/republican state--Mark Warner of Virginia, Bill Richardson of New Mexico, Mike Easley of North Carolina (though I doubt he'd run), Janet Napolitano of Arizona, Tom Vilsack of my state, Jennifer Granholm of Michigan, etc. Democrats (and Republicans) have a greater history of success running governors than Senators or Representatives. I don't really want any retread candidates either: Wesley Clark, John Edwards, John Kerry, Al Gore, etc. Even Joe Biden is too Washington for me. I think the Republican nomination is wide open. Possibles: John McCain, Condi Rice, Rudy Guiliani, George Allen, New Gingrich, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, George Pataki, Sam Brownback, Bill Owen, and Bill Frist to name a few. Oh and Jeb Bush, but he said he wouldn't run. Thoughts? Ready. Set. Go.
