Why a lot of people in myLot talks about arranged marriages?

Are arranged marriages a custom of some parts of the world? I think it's bad... to manage a marriage is hard even when it is based on love! I can't believe that someone could share his life with another person only because of parents choice or economical interests...

This is an age old custom that is slowly disappearing nowadays. But I still see some in the arab countries, chinese families, and India. I don't think it is bad if the children also agrees with their parents but if it was made out of economic reason and it is force upon their children that becomes bad for me. In my place I could only see that in rich families mostly chinese. But I also see a lot of these traditional families going to the usual types of marriages.
