Let explain Illegal it means Not here leagally..........They did not get proper papers to come into the country.....That the frist law they broke........Alien mean a national from another country of origan with allegencet to that country..... I have no problem with people waiting for a visa to come in then gettinga a green card after they are here.... But to race across the border of my country, use someone elses social security number,[which is a felony], and then draw beneifits such as free medical, food stamps and welfare I have a big problem with......If you want to come in legally I welcome you but if you jump the border go back to where you came from...

Thank you, some one who agrees with me. I am not against immigrants, but I am against those who come here illegally.

Illegal aliens are taking the jobs from the citizens and legal aliens. Government should actively campaign to stop this illegal practice to discourage individuals from going to another country illegally.

They don't just work in corn fields. They work in packing plants and other industries that don't care who they employ.

Come to Canada, here we accept all immigrants legal and illegal or it seems that way...lol Immigrants do play a big part in our countries heritage...but I wish they would do it legally, even though I know it is very hard.

How so? Do you know how much crime illegals commit? How much money of OUR tax dollars they take that should have gone to citizens of OUR own country? How are we better off for having illegals in our country?

Canada only lets in asians and Indians....I've lived there for 16 years and left cause the politics are crazy, and I didn't like waiting in the hospital for 12 hours before seeing a doctor.

lol That was funny! Way to preach it! I couldn't agree with you more! I hate when people work the system and make it harder for people who honestly need the help. I totally agree.

A major can of worms this discussion! lol But yes, I agree completely! I'm in Australia and we have the same issues here with boat people. So many small fishing boats are caught trying to enter the country illegally and then they whinge and complain when they are caught and put into detention centres! If you can't enter our countries LEGALLY then too bad! Australia accepts soooo many immigrants and the requirements aren't hard to meet - so if you can't get in legally then we obviously definitely don't want you here!

most people who come to coutries like yours as illegal immigrants ,do it because they are unable to do it the legal way! its human nature to look for something better and if there is a way to a better life style i dont see how anyone can ever stop them! so my advice to you would be just be happy that your not an illegal immigrant cause im sure their lives are alot harder than yours!

That's stupid. I see illegals everyday breaking the law and using hte same uxcuse over and over again. "I did it so I could have a better life." And because of you people, they're getting away with a ton of stuff us legal people would never get away with!

I agree! I don't get free healthcare or food stamps and my family is LEGAL in this country. Why should illegals come here and get benefits that I don't get?

Some of the reasons that they are leaving their country is because they are wanted in their own country. I have a co-worker that is here leaglly and his brother is not legal, but he even told me that the only reason that he is here is because he keeps crossing the boarder to avoid the law there. His brother has been sent back more than 3 times for crimes that he has comminted here in the US. Sure it's a better lifestyle if you can commit a crime and not go to jail. The only reason that their lives are hard is because they made it that way.

First of all unless your native American or native to the south west of Texas (before Texas became the US) then I'm sure your ancestors had no papers when they came to the US. I agree with you that people who want to become US citizens should go the legal way to become citizens. The only problem is that the US regulations to become a citizen have a lot of red tape. To become a citizen it takes about 5 to 6 years to get your card. In the mean time you have to wait. I'm just lucky that I never went through that since my grandparents were native to the US (meaning my ancester were here before the English, Spanish and French ever set foot on this land.)

I dont' care who you are or where you come from . . . you wanna live here and enjoy all the things AMERICANS enjoy . . .DO IT LEGALLY. If my grandparents can do it right, then so can everyone else. Become a proper citizen . . it's as simple as that!!!!

Ummm dood . . .my grandparents were NOT born in this country. They came over from Europe, paid their dues, and became citizens. My grandmother was not allowed to come with my grandfather and had to stay behind in Malta for almost an entire year. I know it's not easy to become a US citizen, but if they want it bad enough, they will do it. And just so you know . . .I've taken the test you take to gain citizenship . . .it's not that hard. It's a bunch of history you learn in Elementary school.

It is not as easy to become a citizen you know. I think you are lucky your grandparents were born in the USA. Others are not so lucky?

immigrants, illegal aliens or whatever you want to call it pay a big role in our economy and in our country. Majority of these people are the ones that build or homes, roads, schools, and such i'm pretty sure no one else would do it but these people get any jobs they can.

The illegals are not the ones in construction that build the things that you are talking about. People who build the things that you mentioned get paid anywhere from $10-$30 dollars an hour. Most Americans do these jobs on a regular basis. So you're saying that the Pacific Northwest or the northern states don't have these things built or it takes a long time to build because of the limited illegals that are there? If anything, these things are built faster in these areas. Not because the labor is more or less than anywhere else, it's because these are usually the hard working American that you hear about but rarely get to see.

There is even a problem here in Iowa. There was a big bust at a local meat packing plant a few days ago. There was suspision of illigle aliens stealing people social security numbbers and getting jobs. There were people there that had the papers but didn't bring them to work (who would?) and had to call people to bring them to the jail house or wherever they were at. Yes, they may be taking jobs away from people that are looking for work but some people wouldn't even think about doing the jobs they do for the money they get. Would you work your butt off all day in the hot sun doing pyshical work for $20 a day? I highly doubt it. That's just a rough guess as to how it works.

Your right and its a sad reality. All I can say when you go to walmart or any grocery store think of how much it your saving because its not costing labor to harvest those crops or meat that we eat.

My 2 cents is I'm have no problem with illegal aliens, but I do think that the business's that hire them should be dealt with by our government for hiring them, which should be illegal. It just gives these companies an excuse to pay low wages.

Do you trust your lettuce and green onions being picked by Mexicans? I'll take a chalupa at Taco Bell with a Heaping hot side dish of Salmonela and E.Coli. YUMM YUMM! They use those fields as a public toilet, and they never wash their hands. I don't trust people with my food that don't know hygiene 101.

I'm from Southern California, where there is most definitely a problem. I have nothing against people from Mexico, but I have a problem with ANYBODY of the mindset that it's ok to go into somebody else's country and start drawing benefits, etc, with the full intentions of staying there, but without any intentions of becoming a citizen. If I wanted to go to Germany, first off, I would go there to visit and see if I really wanted to be there. Do I fit in? Do I understand the culture? I would also make it a point to learn the language (another thing I find completely annoying!!! Nobody thinks they have to speak English around here). I would then go through all the legal channels to become a citizen, and get a job, etc. You don't just walk into a country, or hop the fence, and start acting like you own the place. I realize many of these people are here because they think they can get a better life (and they probably can), but at least they can go about it the right (legal) way!

I agree with you 100%. Legal immigrants is fine, but coming to the U.S. illegally is another. I donot want my tax dollar given to illegals aliens. Non U.S citizens should not receive any benefits period, and they should speak our language which is ENGLISH. I think the government does a lousy job of enforcing the immigration laws, and this cause the problems we are having. Employers who are employing these people should be incarcerated.

The problem is that the US has never stated that ENGLISH is the official spoken language. So how can you expect them to speak an official language that doesn't exist in this country. I know it's implied, the Declaration of Independence is written in english but, nowhere does it say that english is the official language of the US.

Have you ever thought about how difficult it is for these people in another country. It is not their fault they are born there. I am not talking about the illegal immigrants that do crime. I just feel sad to see the chances these people take just to have a better life in another country. It could have been us in that country struggling to stay alive?
@pvleroux (606)
14 Dec 06
I agree with you and that is why I said not the ones that do crime, but we cant see all of them as the same. Some really are looking just for a better life. Maybe there is a difference between the illegal aliens from the states and these from South Africa, you see we get people from Zimbabwe and Mozambique and life is hard in those countries. I was in the police and also worked with some of them but feel sorry for many of them.

I think you are right. I saw many illegal immigrants here in Greece. They race through the borders, usually risking their lives and their children's lives and the border officers' lives as well.

I have to completely agree with you. This is a huge problem for this country. If we went to their country and broke the law, I can guarantee that we would be sitting in jail right now. But with the new laws they want to pass, we are just going to give a free entry to some of the ones already here, because they have been here for x amount of years. Is that fair? I don't think so. They have been in our country illegally for so many years, basically stealing benefits, committing crimes, and they just get off free? No punishment at all? I think not. They want to come here, fine. Do it the right way.

I really can see both sides to this story as an american. On one side I think the laws should be obeyed in regards to immigration. On the other side we seem to be punishing these people for trying to make a better life and pursuing the so called "american dream"
14 Dec 06
Yes, I agree. My country has the problem of illegal immigrants as well. Some were initially legal workers but either overstay or ranaway from their employers (domestic helpers). Most of them are from neighboring countries looking for work in my country... the problem is if they are here for a honest living it is fine. It is a problem if they create social concerns whether it is vice, crime, etc. Another problem is by some wonders or connection that they have, after a few years living as an illegal immigrant, they somehow managed to get not only permanent residential status but in some cases, the country's national ID. How they do it beats me!!! But it seems that it is possible.

I have a bit of a personal experence on this as I am a prison guard for Illegal aliens we have 4 seperate prisons that hold at least 1000 men, while the families are using YOUR tax money and social system to support themselves and we are also paying to keep the aliens in prison and not are all there only because they are Illegal that are there also because they are durg dealers, they rape and murder. They also send a portion of this public money to THEIR country so how are you benefitting from that. So not only are we taken care of the men in prison we take care of the families that Illegal as INS will not normally pick someone up unless there is a crime we are taken care of the extended family in other countries.

I agree wholeheartedly with you. Thus, as a member of the Anishnaabeg nation, I kindly request that you go back to the country your ancestors came from and illegally squatted here. You may return when you can speak Anishinaabemowin and will immerse yourself in the original culture of this country.
