As a past high school and college cheerleader and current coach, I can tell you what helped me. First of all sit on your toosh with legs in a stradle. reach for right leg and touch your nose to you right knee. Repeat on left side. Then reach in front of you as far as you can go and touch your nose to the ground. Once you get this accomplished, you may move on with more extreme stretching. Standing on a platform or stair, reach for your feet and try to touch the ground. Do this until you can put your palms on the ground flat. The practice doing a toe toe touch while sitting on your toosh. stradle ups are a great way to get the abs in shape to do your jumps. Now you are ready to take it to the air. Assuming that you have been taught the proper prep for a jump. remember to keep your toes pointed and do not reach for your toes...rather try to have your toes reach your feet! Better to have proper form than height at this point. Once you have all of this down, put 1/2 to 1 pound weights on each ankle and do not perform any jumps without using the weights. After a couple of weeks, remove the weights and you will see a noticable improvement in your jumps! This helped me immensely, and i hope that it will benefit you as well!

I have been a cheer coach for the last 4 years. It is hard to explain without demonstrating. Prepping is a big part because that is where she will get the most of her height. While reaching for her toe touch, make sure she tucks in her bottom and rotates her hips forward and of course point her toes. Toe touches look aweful when toes aren't pointed. Keep her arms at a T when hitting her toe touch and do not lean forward. Also have her stretch everyday......I can't stress enough how important that is!!!!
