Well I think I'm overweight, but thats a different story. I would like some advice on how to raise my fitness levels so that it is easier for me to lose the weight that I am unhappy with. My partner has laybyed boxing gloves and focus pads for me for christmas, and I have purchased a skipping rope. But I get tired out after a minute of jumping rope. I go for a walk every day for at least half an hour, and now my son is up and about I am constantly chasing after him, but I always seem to be puffed out and exhausted after any exercise. Any tips or ideas on how to raise my fitness levels?

I think your lack of stamina may have to do with the stress of being a mother. Are you getting enough sleep at night? I was always exhausted when my kids were little. Are you still taking vitamins? Have you had a physical to rule out anemia, thyroid problems, and other issues that cause fatigue? It sounds like you get enough exercise so I'd look at other factors like nutrition and stress reduction.

You just have to get your body used to the exercises first. Like tha jumping rope will do, but you have to get used to it first.

The best way is to do skipping and 15-20 min of jogging and if it is possible for you then you should do some streches for around 15-20 minutes which will help you a lot..

I cant jog because i have the pram (and it isnt one of those fancy three wheel joggers) but I do pilates, and tai chi and yoga (thats my stretching) which I have no trouble with- but I get exhausted with any cardio. Even my walking...

Honestly...after having my youngest my health and wt was HORRIBLE....I had always been very fit from my childhood right through til that preg...best thign for me was to do a little every day...if you can only jump rope for a minute then only do that minute..you'll find that within a week if you've done it every day for one minute you'll be able to do 5 mins..then 10..and so on...dont worry so much about the time you spend doin it in the beginning, just make sure you do it...1 minute of jump rope is better than not doing it at all...and in a short amount of time you'll find that you'll be increasing your length of time, your speed, strenght etc etc....I'd LOVE to get boxing gear but my husband says we dont have the room...LOL He's lying..I know he is...he's mean like that ;-) just kidding he's not...but yea I would love to take up boxing...Yoga is a good way to open up your insides....walking is always good and again like wtih the jump rope just do what you can every day then in a week or so increase it by 5mins or so and then again the following week and so on....Get decent sleep every night...which with all thats going on for you may not be easy which is really another reason to get into Yoga....I personally find that its a full body thing (meanign mind/body/soul) it'll help clear your mind, open up your insides so you'll function better from the inside out, you'll sleep better, have more energy be less stressed etc....

If you want to stick with the walking option try this. Start with 30 minutes of excercise per day for a week. The next four weeks add 5 minutes on each week, and then the 5th week add another 10 minutes on. If you want to do the boxing or the jumping rope, start out slower then you normally would and make yourself go a full 15 minutes per day for the first week. Add 5 minutes on per week until you get up to 45 minutes. After that add how ever much you feel necessary. Getting in shape takes time. None of us can do it overnight. It is a process that may take weeks or months depending on your physical makeup and on your current fitness level. All you can do is gradually increase the amount of excercise until you are comfortable working harder for a longer period of time.
